I Can Can-Can

You can Can-Can too!

These girls are most definitely ‘Linked’.

in another life-time, when I went to fancy art school, and had a face piercing, and still thought Williamsburg was cool – I was obsessed with Burlesque.

This morning’s Illo Friday prompt reminded me of those fabulous care-free days where my only real problems in life were all-nighters, waiting for my scholarship money to come in so that I could lavish it on expensive pencils, and figuring out how to get the oil paint off the couch.

This sketch happened in illustrator. It took about ten minutes. I have a new goal to do frantically fast digital sketches on Friday Morning after I get Penelope’s emails and then to finish and refine the sketches over the week, in whatever medium they need to be fine tuned in. Then next Friday you can see where I actually went with the illustration. So check back next Friday πŸ˜‰ I’m telling you so I actually do it.

As always I’m a comment-loving girl of sorts.

  1. Awesome sketch. Awesome concept & interpretation. And awesome new goal. Yeah, that's 3 capital-A awesomes in a row, bam bam bam.

Can't wait to see the developed piece next week!
This one takes me back – my own burlesque-obsession was actually in 6th grade when I sold drawings of lines of can-can girls to all the little boys in my class for 25-cents each (by popular demand). This business was put to a screeching halt by my teacher, principal, and parents after one of the boys' parents were concerned that these girls were wearing what looked like little Playboy-bunny outfits (complete with ears, tails, and fishnet stockings). Apparently I didn't realize what the parents seemed to believe: satin bunny outfits = gateway porn.
    (true story).
I just hope those boys' parents don't read your blog, you just don't have time to deal with the parent-teacher-conference contreversy right now, you're a busy girl!

Hope you're finally getting a little spring! Love this sketch!

I'm leaving Adobe Max and Las Vegas prouder of human beings than I have been since kindergarten. This week, I danced my brains out while Mark Ronson dj'd, had Johnathan Adler speak directly to my soul, learned things I've been trying to understand on my own, met so many of my idols and took my art to a level I've been striving for. I marveled at the depth of creativity in the world, (& of course, I saw Britney, b**tch.) Vegas is so beautiful and bright & strong. 🍁🍁🍁 And I think to myself what a wonderful world

It is Brooklyn meets Hawaii & it's a total party, @fetehawaii -- The food is as delicious as it is beautiful, but these Foie Gras Gyoza (King trumpet mushroom water chestnut duxelle, Maui Upcountry poha jam, balsamic chili reduction) were even better than they look ;) Spending the evening with the owners was a highlight of this already baller tanniversary #πŸŒΊπŸ―πŸŒ™ #tanniversary2017 #πŸŒΊπŸ―πŸŒ™ Here's to a solid year of wedded bliss with this heartthrob. #year1withmynumber1 #πŸŒΊπŸ―πŸŒ™
